A circus trainer was mauled by lions in front of a horrified audience in Lviv, Ukraine.
Lion tamer Oleksiy Pinko was performing a routine circus act when the lions started playing up.
An American audience member captured the shocking footage on camera, which shows one of the big cats knocking him to the ground.
The other trainers aimed a high pressure hose at the lion in an attempt to free the man who was pinned underneath.
When the trainer gets to his feet, he continues to poke the animal with his stick, prompting it to attack a second time.
The other trainers were forced to intervene with the hose and Pinko managed to escape.
He needed emergency surgery for his injuries, reported The Sun.
