Demi Lovato is in a ‘stable’ condition after she was rushed to hospital for a suspected overdose, reports claim.
According to an emergency call obtained by TMZ, the singer was unconscious when paramedics arrived and was revived with Narcan.
Narcan is an emergency medication intended to reverse the effects of a narcotic overdose. While it’s commonly referred to as Narcan, a branded nasal spray, the medication itself is naloxone.
The publication claims the 25-year-old singer was taken from her Hollywood home and is now receiving treatment.
The medication, which is sprayed into one nostril, is able to immediately restore normal breathing in someone who has overdosed on fentanyl, heroin and prescription painkillers for 30 to 90 minutes.
Los Angeles Police Department confirms to PEOPLE, ‘LAPD and LAFD responded to a medical emergency at the 8000 block of Laurel View Dr. at 11:40am.
A representative for the Los Angeles Fire Department additionally told the publication they ‘transported a 25-year-old female patient to a local hospital.’
Demi has battled addiction, mental illness and an eating disorder for years. In 2011, the entertainer entered rehab, where she was also treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm and addiction.
Lovato later relapsed after she left the treatment centre, then entered a sober living facility for a year.
Last March, Lovato revealed she celebrated six years of sobriety.
In June she released a new song, ‘Sober’, where she revealed she had relapsed.
