Jamie Oliver has revealed that he will launch a ‘Food Hero Awards’ in Australia designed to celebrate the unsung food heroes who are positively changing the Australian food system.
Created in partnership with Royal Caribbean International and Wonde, the inaugural awards will consist of five categories:
- Food Educator of the Year
- Food Kindness Awards
Food for Movement - Community or School Food Hero Champion and
- Food Entrepreneur of the Year

Supported by a stellar line of 12 expert judges including wholistic health mascot Healthy Harold, Dannii Minogue, ‘Strong John’ and Anthony from The Wiggles, Jessica Rowe, MasterChef judge Andy Allen, Sarah Harris, and more, the awards have been designed to celebrate the amazing individuals, community groups and schools who work tirelessly to ensure Aussie kids are nourished and supported.
While Jamie has been running the Good School Food Awards in the UK for several years, this is the first time he has launched a similar awards program down under.
He says, after lengthy visits to his second home in Australia, he recognised the need to celebrate the “brilliant work happening in the Australian food system.”

“There are many unsung heroes – educators, caterers, cooks – who are providing deliciously nutritious food for our kids and inspiring them to lead happy, healthy lives through the joy of food,” the 49-year-old said in an official press release announcing the awards.
“And I’m sure what I’ve seen is just the tip of the iceberg,” he added.
“I can’t wait to uncover more food heroes.”

Nominations are now open and will close on Wednesday, September 18. Shortlisted nominees will be contacted shortly after and invited to a glamourous awards ceremony that will be held onboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas in Sydney on Wednesday, November 13.
