Danny Hewitt and Stephanie Marshall found themselves at the centre of a shocking texting scandal at the 2026 Married at First Sight reunion.
Bec Zacharia was left devastated when Danny abruptly ended things with her at Final Vows, leaving the bride in tears and feeling “blindsided”.
And the drama didn’t end there, as Bec came armed with accusations at the hotly anticipated Reunion Dinner Party on April 12.
She claimed that Danny and Steph had exchanged phone calls and texts just days after Final Vows, saying she felt betrayed by them.
While the pair didn’t deny being in contact, they insisted there was nothing more to it than a friendly exchange, like they’d have with anyone else on the cast.
However, Bec refused to let it go and accused Steph of sending Danny a bikini photo, claiming he had sent her love hearts in response.
“I sent her a love heart, but I send love hearts to my mum. So what, am I trying to sleep with my mum?” Danny said to camera in response.
As an explosive row erupted at the Dinner Party over the texts, Danny fumed, “Filip, do I send you love hearts? Do I want to f*** you? No!”
Bec raged that Danny wasn’t taking any “ownership or accountability” for his actions, but Danny firmly hit back at her claims, insisting he had done nothing wrong.
“You message all the boys here, what are you talking about?” Danny said.
“Ink hasn’t dried on our divorce papers, and you’re messaging another bride in the experiment,” Bec responded.
Steph insisted she had “nothing to hide” when Bec accused her of going behind her back to talk to Danny.
“When I was hysterical in bed, Steph was on the phone to me, saying, ‘he’s an idiot, he’s a loser, get out of bed’,” Bec claimed, before accusing Steph of having “deleted” her messages with Danny.
Steph insisted she had always been a good friend to Bec and had never been interested in Danny, who said they were just chatting about their jobs, because they both work in real estate.
“I don’t like Danny, I’m not attracted to Danny, I’m never going to go for Danny, I couldn’t care less,” Steph fumed to camera.
However, Bec wasn’t convinced and launched a foul-mouthed tirade at both Danny and Steph, sending the table into a shocked silence.
“You are a dog, and so is she,” Bec shouted.
Danny was left disappointed, saying Bec hadn’t learnt anything from her clashes in the experiment, adding, “She failed in every realm.”
Meanwhile, their co-stars argued that Bec had been channelling her upset over Danny dumping her into the argument, insisting her problem wasn’t with Steph.
Rebecca Zukowski argued that Danny had strung Bec along for the experiment and urged the bride to “let it go” and move on.
Danny vowed not to turn up to the reunion Commitment Ceremony, with Bec confirming his absence on Abbie Chatfield’s It’s A Lot podcast.
During her interview, Bec also shed further light on the situation, claiming Steph had told her about her conversations with Danny just before the Reunion.
Bec claimed that Steph showed her the messages on her phone after admitting to their communication, leaving her feeling betrayed that Steph would reach out to Danny after supporting her through their break-up.
She alleged that Steph had initially told her that Danny had initiated the conversation before she saw that Steph was the one who had reached out.
Bec claimed the reason she was so fired up at the Dinner Party was because Steph didn’t tell her about it, describing the situation as “dodgy”, saying she had no intention of bringing it up to the group until Tyson did.
“I was vicious, but I was heartbroken,” she said of her Dinner Party tirade.
“It’s not excusable but I’m sorry, don’t do that! I would never do that to another girl ever.”
Bec said she is convinced that Steph reached out because she was “into” Danny and thought he would be a “better match” for her than Tyson was.
“You had no reason to message him, you’d never had any communication before that,” Bec added.
Are Danny and Steph from MAFS dating?
After the shocking text scandal, the question on many viewers’ minds is: Are Danny and Steph actually dating?
No! There was nothing to the text rumours, and it was reported that Steph had actually given Bec a heads-up about the innocent chat before the Dinner Party.
In fact, Steph has actually moved on with someone new, whom she met in October 2025, after she finished filming MAFS.
“I actually sold him a property when I was on the show,” Stephanie told Pedestrian.TV.
“But I obviously didn’t meet him for quite some time until we did the pre-settlement inspection at the end of October, and I met him then.”
Steph, who had a short-lived marriage with Tyson on MAFS, is still happily with her new boyfriend, whom she describes as an “incredible guy that’s literally everything I want”.
As for Danny, it is not known if he is dating anyone after MAFS, but he hasn’t gone public with any new relationship.
