Type “Anna Faris husband” in Google and you’d expect only Chris Pratt’s name to appear, right? Wrong! Ms Faris has been married before!
Wait, what? Anna Faris was married before Chris Pratt? Well, to be fair, this relationship happened before everyone lived on the internet. His name only started to float around after Faris released her memoir, Unqualified. The autobiography was written and published before Pratt and Faris announced their split in August 2017.
The book created a lot of buzz as it shone a lot of light on how she started her relationship with Pratt by leaving her first husband. Faris first met Pratt in 2007 on the set of the film Take Me Home Tonight. Despite being married for three years at that time, she felt a connection with Pratt to the point that she felt jealous of the attention he was giving background actresses.
So, what do we know about Anna Faris’ first husband?
1) His name is Ben Indra
He was born in Sonoma County, California on February 23, 1979.
2) He is an Actor too!
With only 9 screen appearances to his name, it’s no surprise he isn’t quite a household name. Some of his best known work was on Lover’s Lane (where he first met Anna), Tempest Eye, and a recurring role on Raising Dad.
3) He proposed to Anna twice!
Before the proposal, Ben took the time to meet Anna’s dad to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage. On his first try, Indra took Faris to an antique shop to choose a ring herself. Unfortunately, his seemingly spontaneous gesture was not received well.
Faris rejected his proposal because they were apparently on the way to buy burritos! I’m sure it sounded like a better idea to Ben at that time. The second time around though, Ben asked her on bended knee at the Mondrian Hotel where she finally said yes.
4) Ben and Anna got married in June 2004
There are barely any details regarding their wedding. Not a pap, Instagram or Tweet in sight.
5) Ben was on the receiving end of the breakup call.
Apparently while Faris was on set for Take Me Home Tonight, she started to fall in love with Chris Pratt. Her marriage with Ben Indra had glaring problems, which only seemed to worsen as she was doing better professionally. She called Ben one night in March 2007 and told him it was over. He apparently thought the call was her just being tired. Unfortunately for him, Faris was dead serious about moving on.
While Anna admits that while she didn’t cheat on Ben, she desperately wanted to. After her breakup call, she admitted to having the passionate encounter she had been wanting with Chris Pratt. In her memoir she writes, “Sure, I get to proclaim I didn’t f–k Chris before I left Ben, but what is there to celebrate in that? It didn’t make me a hero. After all, I wanted to, desperately … So while I didn’t cheat, I’m not completely innocent, either.”
6) They filed for divorce shortly after the breakup call.
The two separated in March 2007 and a month after, they filed for their divorce, which was finalised in February 2008. There was a settlement of US$900,000 where the couple split their properties with Ben getting a cut from Faris’ acting royalties.
Surprisingly, Anna Faris didn’t wait long to get hitched again. Soon after the finalised divorce (9 months after to be exact), Faris got engaged to Pratt in November 2008. The couple then got married in Bali the following year in July.
Will Ben Indra now simply be known as Anna Faris’ first husband? Perhaps. His IMDB does not seem to have other activity after 2005. With his lack of presence on public social media, maybe Ben’s decided to stray away from the drama of Hollywood.
