It’s wedding bells for Meg Ryan and her on-off lover John Mellencamp. According to US magazine National Enquirer, the couple, who split in 2014, are back on and planning a surprise wedding.
“John wants their relationship to go full steam ahead,” spills an insider to The Enquirer. “He’s even talking marriage. Meg’s a little more cautious – John’s a tough man to love, but if it all works out, she’s definitely into marrying him this time.”
Meg, 55, and the Jack & Diane singer, 65, were spotted out together for the second time since their split, enjoying breakfast at the Art Cliff Diner on Martha’s Vineyard on May 20. This follows a March meet-up, when the pair were seen chatting on a New York street.
Sources say it was Meg’s son Jack, who’s been pushing for them to reunite after they split over John’s smoking habit and where to live. “Jack loves John,” says the Enquirer’s insider. “Their split devastated him, so he’s been pushing his mum to give John another chance. And so far, so good – John and Meg have been acting like flirty teenagers!”
No doubt John’s grovelling admission of his faults live on Howard Stern’s radio show helped Meg forgive him. “I loved Meg Ryan,” he confessed. “She hates me to death. I think it’s because I’m a child. I throw fits. I gripe, I complain, I’m moody. Every bad thing that a fella can be, that’s me.”
Now the pair are well and truly back on and this time stronger and better than before. A source tells New Idea: “They have both learnt some hard lessons. They’re getting on so well now – I don’t think either of them have been this happy.”
