Prince George currently attends Lambrook School in Berkshire with his two younger siblings, however, the next stage of his schooling is fast approaching and Kate Middleton is reportedly “heartbroken” over the prospect of him being sent away.
Lambrook caters for kids up to the age of 13, and while Prince George, 10, is still a few years away from moving to a new school, royal watchers are already investigating which school Prince William and Princess Catherine will send their eldest son to.

Kate and William have reportedly taken a tour of St Edward’s School in Oxford. The school is co-educational which means Princess Charlotte could also attend when her time comes.
St Edward’s is a boarding school for boys and girls aged 13 to 18… the kids who attend are affectionately known as ‘Teddies’. The school charges £46,980-per-annum and due to its strong emphasis on community service, and the proximity to the Waleses’ family home in Windsor, it appears to be a strong candidate for Kate and William.
HELLO! spoke to Melanie Sanderson, education consultant and managing editor of The Good Schools Guide, who discussed why St Edward’s School would be a competing option for the parents.
“When it was just Marlborough College and Eton College on the table, it all felt quite straightforward. But now all these other school names have been thrown into the mix, I don’t know,” Sanderson said.
“I can’t see why Teddies wouldn’t be a serious contender though. I can’t name names but there are a few people who are loosely connected to the royal family at Teddies, so it’s not as much of a rogue choice as it might appear.
“Obviously, it’s co-educational, and I think we’re getting that strong message that William and Catherine want to educate their three children together, or they’re certainly considering it very seriously.”
Prior to this news, George was expected to enroll at Eton College in an effort to follow in Prince William’s footsteps, however, Kate had her reservations about the school, leaving her and William reportedly “divided” over the matter.
Despite Kate’s reservations, Kate has allegedly accepted that it is her son’s “destiny” to follow in the footsteps of his father and attend Eton College in Berkshire.
Kate reportedly feared that if Prince George attends such a prestigious school, it will go against all recent efforts directed towards modernising the monarchy.
The Sun reported, quoting In Touch Weekly that a source has claimed the Prince and Princess have argued for “years” over the idea of sending their children to boarding school.
“Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition,” the source said.
“Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy. Plus, she’ll miss George desperately.
“She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.”

A royal insider revealed to In Touch Weekly that the thought of sending Prince George to boarding school has left her “heartbroken.”
It was then revealed that Kate was “horribly bullied” throughout her time at boarding school, Marlborough College in Wiltshire, and “can’t bear the thought of George suffering through that”.
Back in November 2023, Prince George had one of the most important weeks in his education as of yet, the entrance exams.
The exams were believed to be The ISEB Common Pre-test where he will participate in four separate exams – mathematics, English (reading, comprehension, and grammar), verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
It is common for the entrance exams to be sat about three years in advance.
Having attended Westacre Montessori School in 2016, and Thomas’s Battersea in 2017 before moving to his current school, Lambrook School, in 2022, we all wonder where he will continue his education in the following years.
