The Duchess of Cambridge has once again opted for her favourite tiara – an old favourite of her late mother-in-law Princess Diana – for Queen Elizabeth’s Buckingham Palace annual reception for diplomatic representatives and staff.
Kate, who wore a sequined gown, chose the Lover’s Knot tiara for the white-tie event, which is sometimes referred to as the Cambridge Lover’s Knot.
This particular tiara is one of the best-known tiaras in the British royal family’s collection, mostly thanks to it being a favourite of the late Princess Diana.
Kate’s classic up-do showed off her pearl drop earrings, which also belonged to Diana.

Kate and husband Prince William both travelled to the palace from their home at Kensington Palace on Tuesday evening – hours after hosting a children’s party for military families.

Earlier in the day, the royal mother-of-three opted for a festive tartan skirt by Emilia Wickstead with a cropped cashmere cardigan from Brora.
The couple were walking through the grounds when they noticed “snow” on the ground, when suddenly they were jolted by a blower dispensing fake snow as they made their arrival to the event.
Kate and William then shared a laugh at their moment of surprise.
