Queen Elizabeth II shares a deep love of horses with her daughter, Princess Anne.

Both the Queen and the Princess Royal are seasoned equestrians. 

Her Majesty also has a passion for horse races and has earned an enormous $14,598,273 in winnings from her horses over the past three decades, according to Express.

The 93-year-old has won 534 races from 3,205 runs over her career in both flat and jump races in the UK and Ireland.

The Queen attends the Windsor Horse Show every year and is known to get excited while watching the Royal Ascot. The monarch has loved horses since she was a child and was given her first horse – a Shetland pony – when she was just four years old.

In the upcoming season of Netflix’s The Crown, an emotional episode will touch on the Queen’s love of horse racing, revealing it to be the thing that makes her most happy.

Princess Anne has had an epic career as an equestrian. In fact, she is the first member of the royal family to have competed in the Olympics.

The now 69-year-old won two silver medals and one gold medal at the European Eventing Championships in the 70s’, according to Express

In the upcoming season of The Crown, Princess Anne will be dressed in equestrian gear often to highlight her horse roots.

What’s more, her Royal Highness met her second husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence, through her career, as he served as the Queen’s equerry between 1986 and 1989.

Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall followed in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career as an equestrian as well.

The 38-year-old won the Eventing World Championship in Aachen in 2006 as well as a silver medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics. The Princess Royal presented her with the medal.

Zara was also appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2007 for her services to equestrianism.
