Even if most of your dinners happened to be cooked by world-class chefs, there really is nothing better than a good old fashioned cheat meal – and the Queen agrees.

Her Majesty, like the rest of us commoners, has one particular takeaway food we like to indulge in, but can you guess what the monarch’s favourite takeaway meal is?

Here’s a hint: She only ever orders this meal when she’s on her annual Scottish holiday at Balmoral (and no, it’s not haggis).

Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite cheeky meal is fish and chips!

A source told the Sun Her Majesty is very partial to some good old fashioned fish and chip on those very special occasions.

“She very occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral.

“A footman is despatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”

Turns out the Queen has more ‘down to earth’ taste in comparison with her hubby, Prince Philip.

Darren McGrady, the Queen’s former chef, has said that Lizzie is certainly no ‘foodie’, but that the Duke of Edinburgh “loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day”.

It seems a less mature palette runs in the family.

The Queen’s grandson – and future King of England – Prince William also has a penchant for fast food.

According to Express.co.uk, the Duke of Cambridge is said to love pizza, Chinese food and Portuguese chicken fast-food chain Nandos.
