Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have touched down in Melbourne for a busy day of engagements.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take part in a walkabout in the grounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens and a reception being given by the Governor of Victoria.

Harry and Meghan are also due to watch sporting demonstrations with ambassadors from the This Girl Can campaign and meet Hunter Johnson, the founder of the Man Cave mental health initiative.

In the afternoon, the couple will take a tram ride to the coast where they will meet primary school children and take part in a beach clean.

Hundreds of people are waiting in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens for the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Children are holding signs reading “worth the detention” and “Fresh Prince with red hair”, while others have Australian flags ready to wave.

Harry and Meghan were given a rapturous reception as they arrived in Melbourne.

Crowds screamed for the duke and duchess as they greeted well-wishers and were handed toys and flowers.

Members of the crowd also started singing Stand By Me, which was performed at Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May.

The couple will then visit the social enterprise which offers training programmes for young Aboriginal people.

In the afternoon they will visit a local primary school before traveling on an iconic Melbourne tram to South Melbourne beach to meet volunteers from a local beach program.

MORE TO COME.
