Like Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle has been known to recycle her favourite dresses, with multiple frocks making a second and third appearance while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on their royal tour of Africa.

However, the latest recycled dress Meghan wore to meet Nelson Mandela’s widow has a very special meaning.

The Duchess of Sussex was wearing a white shirt dress at the start of her day while out visiting a township near Johannesburg with Prince Harry.

But it was the former actress’s second outfit that caught the attention of royal fans.

Wearing a NONIE Trench Dress which she previously wore at yet another event celebrating the legendary Nelson Mandela in 2018, Meghan decided to don the outfit yet again to attend an afternoon reception at the British High Commissioners in South Africa’s capital city.

The mum of one wore her hair in her signature low, loose bun, and finished off her look with a pair of beige pumps.

Nina Kharey, Founder & Creative Director of NONIE, told PEOPLE magazine that she was ‘honoured’ the Duchess chose to wear her design: “I’m honoured she chose to wear the sleeveless trench dress again and it’s amazing to know she keeps this piece in her closet as a staple.

“She styled the garment very similar to the first appearance, looking effortlessly chic for her last day in South Africa!”

This isn’t the first piece Meghan has recycled on her Royal tour of Africa. The Royal mum has been spotted wearing a number of dresses from the Sussex’s Royal visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

While on the Royal tour, Meghan hasn’t just been recycling outfits, but she’s also been breaking traditions surrounding clothing, by choosing not to release any details about her outfits.

“What’s different on this tour is that typically on a royal tour the palace would release details on what the member of the royal family was wearing,” Angela Mollard says on New Idea Royals podcast.

“You would normally get, not necessarily the price, but what it was and who the designer was.”

However, on her tour of Africa the palace hasn’t released these details and it is believed to be at Meghan’s suggestion.

“[Meghan] didn’t want to reveal details of her outfits,” reveals Angela.

“She felt that it detracted [from their work], particularly because she had that experience in Australia and New Zealand where everyone clamoured to see what she was wearing each day, she hasn’t done it this time.

“I think she has been very clever and I’m sure she has advice on it.”
