The Duchess of Sussex could receive a new global honour after being shortlisted for a coveted new title.
Following her May 19 wedding to Prince Harry, Meghan was minted the Duchess of Sussex – officially marking her entry into the British Royal Family.
Meghan even received her own crest to accompany her brand new royal title after marrying the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
But Meghan, who is pregnant with her first child, has now been nominated for a new title: Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
The coveted nomination comes after a life changing year for Meghan, who wed one of the most eligible bachelors in the world and created an award-winning cookbook that helped raise funds for the survivors of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Before entering the Royal Family, Meghan had a loud voice as an advocate for women’s rights.
She starred in a UN Women campaign and was also nominated for the Choice Style Icon award at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
The Duchess is up against some tough competition though, including US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and murdered Saudi Arabian Journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Previous winners of Time Person of Year include Queen Elizabeth II in 1952 and Winston Churchill in 1940 and 1949, Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 and Donald Trump in 2016.
Wallis Simpson, who wed King Edward VIII following his abdication of the throne, was named Woman of the Year in 1936.
The 2018 Person of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 11. on the NBC network’s Today show.
