Since the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle gave birth to baby Archie on May 6, sightings of the royal have been few and far between.
Meghan appeared several days after Archie’s birth when she and Prince Harry presented him to the public and she was out again for the Trooping the Colour on June 8.
But, apart from those two outings Meghan has kept out of the spotlight and it’s all because Meghan is reportedly a follower of ‘the fourth trimester.’
“I hadn’t realised she was such a devotee of this,” says royal commentator Angela Mollard on the podcast New Idea Royals. “What it is, is recognising that pregnancy is three trimesters and the fourth trimester is seen as a time for the mother to really recover, bond with her baby, be very gentle with herself and not go life at a million miles an hour.”
“How we know Meghan is possibly, or more probably, following this philosophy is that we have barely seen her,” adds Angela. “She has been very coddled at home with her baby.”
And, it turns out that she may have heard of the concept from her close pal Serena Williams.
“Serena Williams, as we know great friend of Meghan, has spoken about the fourth trimester and how important it is,” reveals Angela.
“She was talking about how after her daughter Olympia was born, she was getting so upset she was not coping and I think the quote is, ‘I think people need to talk about it more, it’s like the fourth trimester its part of the pregnancy.’ Now, she undoubtedly will have told Meghan.”
The duchess might be relishing all her time at home with Baby Archie, but with his christening expected to happen in July or August, we may get a sighting of the mum soon.
