They're quite surprising.

It’s no secret that Queen Elizabeth II had a love for her pets, and a particular weak spot for her corgis having owned more than 30 of the breed since her childhood.

But, Her Majesty isn’t the only member of the Royal Family who shares a love for animals – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge adopted a family dog shortly after their wedding, as did the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. 

GoCompare has analysed more than 500,000 pet names in its pet insurance quote database from the last two years, and has figured out the top 10 royal pet names.

The results are in: 

1. Ruby

Ruby is the name of Princess Michael of Kent’s Burmese cat. 3,846 other pets share the same name in Britain.

2. Jack

Jack is the name of Princess Eugenie’s Norfolk Terrier. 1,981 other pets have the same name in Britain.

Candy is the name of Queen Elizabeth’s Dorgi (Corgi and Dachshund mix) and share the name with 229 other pets in the UK.

4. Bluebell

Bluebell is the name of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall’s Jack Russell. 159 other pets in Britain share the same name.

5. Marvin

Marvin is Princess Charlotte’s hamster and share the name with 157 other pets.

6. Beth

Beth is the name of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall’s other Jack Russell. 57 other pets share the same name.

7. Oz

Oz is the name of Prince Harry and Meghan’s Labrador, the couples newest pet. 37 other pets share the same name in Britain.

8. Lupo

Lupo is the name of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Cocker Spaniel and share the name with 20 other pets.

9. Guy

Guy is Meghan Markle’s rescue Beagle. 15 other pets share the same name.

10. Vulcan

Vulcan is the Queen’s other Dorgi and share the name with three other pets
