This Apple and Blueberry Hot Cross Crisp is comfort food at its best

Ingredients

Method

Step 1

Place apples, sugar, juice and cinnamon in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 mins or until apples are just tender. Transfer to an ovenproof pie dish (6-cup capacity). Scatter over blueberries.

Step 2

TOPPING: Stir butter, sugar and syrup in a small saucepan over a medium-low heat until smooth and melted. Place buns and coconut in a large bowl. Add butter mixture. Toss well. Sprinkle evenly over fruit in dish.

Step 3

Cook in a 180°C preheated oven for about 25 mins, until topping is crisp and golden brown.

Step 4

Serve warm with custard.
