His turbulent relationships are rarely out of the headlines and now ‘love rat’ Shane Warne is set to share even more of his private life as the next Bachelor.
New Idea can exclusively reveal the Spin King has been approached by network bosses and is ‘ironing out the finer details’ of his contract, believed to be worth $1 million.
A Ten insider reveals it’s only a matter of time before the 48-year-old father-of-three embarks on the national quest to find love.
‘Whatever he does always ends up in the media so he figures why not give it a shot,’ the spy spills. ‘He is the first to admit he doesn’t always make the best choices with women, so why not get a bit of help along the way?’
It was due to the success of celebrity Sophie Monk as this years Bachelorette that the show’s executives insisted on another famous face to keep the ratings juggernaut going.
‘Sophie’s season has done wonders for the network and they are desperate to keep viewers interested,’ the source explains. ‘And Warnie is Australia’s ultimate Bachelor, isn’t he?’
His chequered history includes a 10-year marriage to Simone Callahan and string of high-profile relationships, including British actress Liz Hurley and glamour model Emily Scott. Warnie’s also tried his hand at Tinder and other dating apps and websites.
Now the unlucky-in-love playboy is gearing up to find his perfect mate as the star of next season’s show.
‘He’s got a taste of reality TV when he was on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’ says a friend.
But before he puts pen to paper, Shane has TV cricket-commitments to work around and has also insisted that he will make sure his kids – Brooke, Jackson and Summer – are happy with the extra publicity that will surround them all.
