Geoff Huegill’s wife Sara has been arrested after allegedly stealing a pair of leather pants worth $2,500 from a luxury Byron Bay boutique.
The publicist allegedly placed the pants in her handbag and walked out of the store without paying. A staff member followed her down the street for 200m before flagging down two police officers who arrested her.
The wife of former Olympian Geoff was later released on bailed charged with shoplifting.
Her lawyers said in a statement: ‘Sara deeply regrets the incident and apologises unreservedly.
‘Sara has made good progress recently in being treated for issues related to anxiety and depression and acknowledges this is a setback.
‘She has asked for privacy and understanding for her family at this time.’
