Oprah Winfrey admits the Royal Wedding ‘took her breath away’

Everyone should be as 'radiant, joyful, and alive as Meghan'.

Oprah Winfrey has spoken for the first time following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s spectacular royal wedding.

After attending the newly minted Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s star-studded nuptials in May, the 64-year-old television host opened up about the experience in the August issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.

‘What the Harry and Meghan moment symbolized for me are the possibilities that await us all when we choose love—in any form,’ Oprah wrote in her ‘What I Know For Sure’ column.

Referencing Most Reverend Michael Curry’s sermon about the ‘power of love’, the media mogul said that the wedding guests were moved by the power felt in the room

‘It gave us hope, that wedding,’ she explained. ‘Hope that we can all do what Mara Gay described in her New York Times opinion piece as ‘imagining the day when we wake up and remember who we want to be’,’

‘We all want to feel as radiant, joyful, and alive as Meghan looked on her way down the aisle to meet Harry. Both of them were glowing with happiness,’ she added.

‘I can’t wait to see the goodness that will come from their union. Goodness that I know for sure will help change the way the world thinks about what is possible, even more than it already has.’

Previously, Oprah revealed that she was ‘blown away’ when she stepped into Windsor Castle and admitted she was ‘unprepared for the depth of emotion’ she felt in that moment.

She recalled, ‘It literally took my breath away.’

‘I exclaimed out loud to no one in particular: ‘Whoa! This right here is a whole ‘nother level!”

In addition to attending the royal wedding, Oprah is set to complete a groundbreaking interview with Meghan’s mother Doria, talking about the racism her daughter has suffered as a result of her relationship with Prince Harry.

The 61-year-old yoga instructor and therapist is believed to be in talks to share details of her daughter’s struggle with Winfrey.

Ragland, who is playing a key role in the royal wedding on May 19 at Windsor Castle, was spotted leaving Winfrey’s $88m home in California last week.

While the reason for the six-hour visit has not been confirmed, a US TV source has told the Mirror Online that the pair were discussing ideas for a tell-all interview.

The source told the publication, ‘Oprah and Doria spent a long time chatting and they got on really well. The most important and significant issue they spoke about was race and how badly some people had reacted to Meghan and Harry.

‘What happened to Meghan and Harry was disgusting and they and all of their families were horrified. It’s an issue close to both Doria and Oprah, who have both suffered racism.’

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship became public knowledge, the 33-year-old prince slammed racist attacks on his girlfriend in a statement.

In an unprecedented move, the royal said: ‘His girlfriend has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment.

‘Some has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web comments.’

Meghan has previously referred to the difficulties she’s faced with race in Hollywood, telling Elle UK: ‘To describe something as being black and white means it is clearly defined.

‘Yet being biracial paints a blurred line that is equal parts staggering and illuminating.’
