Meet House Rules 2019 resident dancers Pete and Courtney

Everything you need to know about the dance pro's bringing 'grace and swagger' to the contest!

House Rules 2019 kicked off in a derelict warehouse on Sunday April 28 and this installment of the Channel 7 series promises to showcase the most modern and innovative designs Australia has ever seen.

This year, six teams will use their creative talents, determination and strategy to produce cutting edge houses which reflect the changing nature of Australian homes.

The teams – hailing from Victoria, South Australia, WA, New South Wales and Queensland – will have their efforts judged by award-winning designer and author Jamie Durie, British design guru Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Australia’s leading design expert Wendy Moore.

“If there’s one thing we bring to this competition, it’s style,” dance teacher Pete, 32, said.

Courtney, 31, agreed and said the couple will bring the “same determination they display in their work” to House Rules.

The pair – who live in the foothills of Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges 35km east of Melbourne – admitted they have high standards and expectations, with Courtney declaring: “Ordinary for us is never okay.”

Dance teachers Pete & Courtney’s home is a “huge brown brick mega-mansion” in 1980s style split over three levels, one of the biggest houses the reality TV renovation show has ever seen.

The duo admitted while the house has “amazing potential”, it definitely needs an overhaul because some areas are “quite unsafe”.

Safety comes first for the high school sweethearts since they welcomed their first child, one-year-old son Casper.

“People underestimate dancers, but dancers are resilient,” Courtney told Channel Seven.

“We’re always the first to arrive and last to leave.”

And it’s not the first renovation for the longterm couple.

Pete & Courtney flipped a three-bedroom unit in just two weeks during a school holiday break.

The determined duo are in it to win, with Pete saying: “We’re not really interested in second place.”

Pete & Courtney are up against five other House Rules teams: South Australia’s Lisa & Andy, Western Australia’s Mikaela & Eliza, New South Wales’ Katie & Alex, Queensland’s Shayn & Carly and fellow Victorians Tim & Mat.

Now in its seventh year, House Rules has cemented itself as Australia’s favourite renovation show and one of the nation’s most loved reality shows along with Seven’s My Kitchen Rules and Channel 9’s Married At First Sight.
