Passionate foodie and MasterChef Australia contestant Mandy Hall is hoping her love of food will take her through to the finale.
The 51-year-old stay-at-home-mum was born and raised in South Australia and is passionate about meeting market producers and learning where food originates.
Mandy grew up as the youngest of five children, and she was influenced by her mother and her grandmother, both great cooks who often hosted large family dinners.
She describes her food style as ‘rustic’ with a flair for Middle Eastern flavours.
Mandy loves cooking for friends and says her children Sam and Eliza love her Spanish paella and slow cooked lamb.
Her strengths lie in the savoury challenges, whereas her weakness is intricate desserts, using elements she’s not familiar with, like gels and foams.
Outside of her cooking dream Mandy is a qualified yoga teacher.
After MasterChef she would love to set up a food hug where diners can learn to cook and enjoy dishes from different cultures.
She’d also like to set up a not-for-profit café serving feast style food, aiding the local community and combatting homelessness.
