Her Dancing With The Stars debut didn’t exactly wow the judges, but comedian Nikki Osborne isn’t letting it get her down.
Especially considering fans – including her own son – deemed the scores “harsh”.
“I was ripped off,” she tells New Idea following her inaugural performance. “The judges should have gone to Specsavers; I was awesome.
“I know I was a bit goofy but I was better than what they gave me.”

Nevertheless, the 42-year-old is looking on the bright side, suggesting that she has been “given a gift”.
“Now I’m the underdog, so people will like me,” Nikki tells us, “So it’s not all bad.”
While the judges weren’t on board with Nikki’s first performance, her family is her biggest support system.
“My son is so proud,” Nikki gushes, explaining that she watched the first performance with her husband and children.
“They were rather bemused,” she adds.

“They are looking forward to me looking more elegant. I looked a little bit like I was from an 80s prom during the first dance.”
For her Dancing With The Stars stint, Nikki has been partnered with Aric Yegudkin, with whom she has a “very passionate partnership”.
“Aric and I are very competitive and very argumentative,” she laughs.
“But it was great; we had so much fun. If we were not getting something right, we would both get so angry and have a barney and storm off. Then we would text each other five minutes later going ‘maybe we’re hungry, let’s go get a burrito.’ We would have a breather, and we would be fine.”

She continues: “He’s a perfectionist and I’m a perfectionist. I get tired and emotional and he gets impatient. So it made for a very amusing dynamic.”
Of course, the show comes with plenty of scary lifts – made even scarier for Nikki when they became “harder to land as they went on”.
“The day of the show during the dress rehearsals and tech runs we didn’t land it once,” the comedian tells New Idea, revealing she suffered some nasty bruises as a result.
“Coming into that lift we were absolutely sweating bullets. It felt like the move Blades of Glory,” she jokes.
