In a sweet video posted to Instagram by Luke’s wife, Mary, the TV star can be seen sat at a table with his children – and in front of them is an impressive birthday cake, decked with candles.

Joker Luke then delights his kids as he pretends to blow out the candles, but fails each time.

When he finally manages to blow them out, his son Lennox asks what he wished for.

However, the much-loved star and his family were overwhelmed after viewers set up a crowd funding site raise money for Luke.

Luke’s wife Mary said she and her husband were “overwhelmed” by Australia’s extraordinary support, following his shock elimination, admitting they were struggling financially before he went on the show.

Fans rallied around the Toki family, starting a GoFundMe page which has since surpassed half-a-million dollars in donations.

Speaking to New Idea, Mary said the money will help the young Perth family get out of debt.

“Luke went away to try and help our family, and it didn’t go exactly the way he hoped it would. So [this money] will actually get us out of a little bit of hell!” she said.

Eventually the couple stopped the GoFundMe page, saying that while they couldn’t believe the generosity of fans, they didn’t want to take any more cash from them.

“You get people saying they are waiting to be paid so they can donate,” Luke told the Sunday Times

“When I saw more than $500,000 was raised I thought it was a joke. I don’t want to take anything more,” he explained.
