Currently in Paris with her husband Karl Stefanovic – who is helming the Today Show’s Olympic coverage – Jasmine Stefanovic is facing backlash from a recent Instagram post.

The photo in question pictured Jasmine and Karl in front of the Eiffel Tower, enjoying a night at a gourmet Parisian restaurant.

“La Girafe with you, thank you @channel9 for a beautiful dinner,” Jasmine captioned the post.

While some shared their support for the couple, others claimed the post was tactless in the wake of the network’s mass redundancies.

One deleted comment reportedly read: “I’m sure all the people who have just been sacked from Channel Nine will be happy to see you eating at the most expensive restaurant in Paris paid for by Channel Nine!”

Another apparently remarked: “Read the room. Go have the dinner and enjoy yourself. But at least have enough compassion to not post about it.”

Just two days earlier, Jasmine and Karl shared photos and videos with their daughter Harper in a French Airbnb.

“A beautiful welcome to Paris by @airbnb thank you for hosting us during the @olympics,” Jasmine wrote on Instagram.

“We’ve made such amazing family memories already. It truly feels like a home away from home 🤍.”

Karl meanwhile penned: “Late nights and early mornings for this proud Aussie in Paris 🇦🇺. So grateful to be here covering the Paris 2024 Olympic Games @olympics and it’s such a joy to have my family stay here with me thanks to @airbnb I honestly can’t wait to see our team do their thang. Go Australia.”

At the end of June, Nine Entertainment announced it would make up to 200 employees redundant in a massive restructure. The job cuts were attributed to “the loss of revenue from the Meta deal and challenges in the advertising market”.

Chief executive Mike Sneesby said in a statement: “It is not something we want to do but it is something we need to do to continue to build on a successful platform of high-quality journalism and digital journalism and digital subscription growth.”

New Idea has reached out to Nine for comment.
