Home and Away’s James Stewart has admitted that his favourite role is that of father to his 12-year-old daughter Scout.
The 48-year-old shares Scout with his ex-partner Jess Marais.
“It is with much joy and pride that Jessica Marais and James Stewart announce the birth of their baby girl, Scout Edie Stewart,” read a statement in 2012.
“Scout was born on Wednesday 9th May at 5:41pm. Baby, Mum and Dad are doing well.”
Since their separation, James and Jess have remained on good terms while sharing custody of Scout.
The actor has shared many proud father moments with his daughter, who has changed his life for the better.
“I’m kinder, more attentive, more involved and passionate about life, way more protective and caring,” he told our sister site WHO. “But most of all, it’s made me more loving.”
He continued: “Every night at Scout’s bedtime, I make sure I’m there to tell her I love her. I make sure she hears the words ‘Daddy loves you’.”
During James’ marriage to Sarah Roberts, the actress formed a deep bond with Scout – acting as a devoted stepmother for the youngster.
Now, the Dancing With The Stars celebrity is dating Home and Away co-star Ada Nicodemou, who has been spotted with Scout on multiple occasions – and even wished her a happy 12th birthday.
Scout, who clearly has a lot of admirers, has even already followed in her dad’s footsteps, heading to Summer Bay for a cameo as Annabel Wolf.
“She was an exceptional cast member,” James told our sister site TV WEEK.
“I always like it when a young person comes in and they work really hard and do a really good job. It makes you go ‘This is worth it. What we’re doing is worth it’.”
Most recently, for her 12th birthday, James penned a heartfelt tribute to his almost-teenager.
“You are wise, you are kind, you are talented… and you are important,” the former Packed To The Rafters star wrote.
“I love you very much xo dada.”
