Just weeks after speculation intensified that Victoria and David Beckham’s marriage was on the rocks, and a spokesperson dismissed reports as ‘fake social media news’, the British designer has given a revealing glimpse into the state of her 19-year-marriage.
During a session at the Forbes Women’s Summit in New York, the 44-year-old designer praised her husband with a series of gushing compliments.
‘I have the support of an incredible husband,’ she said. ‘We really are equal with everything we do at home with the children. When I’m away, he’s the one doing the school run and doing the cooking.’
She also said she tries to be the ‘best wife and the best professional’.
‘When I get home I try to put the phone down and spend time with the children and spend time with David,’ she added.
But the hardworking former pop star admitted struggling to juggle the demands of her work, four children and husband, saying:
‘I try really, really hard. I try hardest to be the best mother.’
However, it’s been revealed the pair – who have shared the same management for two decades – now have separate teams. And while she gushes about David on social media, he’s keeping quiet.
Recently, rumours and drama surrouding the two’s marriage came to a dramatic head when a rogue email claimed David was having an affair with Harper’s teacher – and that the unnamed woman was now pregnant.
The power couple were quick to slam reports, with a spokesperson dramatically responding that the divorce rumours were a ‘crock of s***’.
The unnamed woman’s father even spoke out, slamming the report as ‘fake news’ in The Sun newspaper.
However outlandish the claim, the long-time lovebirds made every attempt to make it seem as though all is well in their 19-year marriage. Victoria posted a series of gushing Instagram posts to back up their united front, including a sweet photo with Harper, captioned: ‘We love and miss u @davidbeckham.’
Meanwhile, David quickly flew in to London from the US and was by his wife’s side as they attended the Kent & Curwen Men’s London Fashion Week show.
But while the pair were photographed together – and, afterwards, Victoria quickly Instagrammed a loving snap of them at the event in an obvious bid to silence the rumours – onlookers noticed the pair arrived and sat separately.
Sadly, the reason for that may now be becoming more clear. Behind the scenes, there’s speculation that the Beckham’s marriage is in trouble, with Victoria apparently telling friends, it has been ‘for years’.
‘They’ve made a pact that if they were to split they would wait until Harper is at least 11 years old and entering secondary school before going their separate ways. If they made that decision, and until then, they’ll continue to show the public they are together as a family,’ the insider tells New Idea.
