Claims have surfaced that Scientologist Tom Cruise has splashed out $8 million dollars on setting up a church in Detroit, just an hour’s drive away from Katie’s home.
According to former member of the Scientology Celebrity Center, Steven Mango, the move is specifically planned to lure Katie back to the church.
‘Katie is a celebrity highly coveted by Scientology. They need her, and they’re willing to work on a program to get her back in good standing,’ Steven spilled to the National Enquirer.
Other sources claimed that Tom has masterminded the whole project and, as secondin- command in the church, has the authority to see the plans through.
Katie left the church in 2012 after divorcing Tom, and won custody of Suri, now 12 years old. Reasons for the split remain unclear, but friends close to the star later admitted that the Dawson’s Creek actress feared the church and worried about Suri being a part of the religion.
The church consequently named her an SP or ‘suppressive person’, where members are advised to abstain contact from them, and Tom has reportedly not seen his daughter or spoken to Katie since.
But according to the publication, Tom still harbours ‘deep feelings’ for the actress, who is currently in an on-and-off relationship with Jamie Foxx.
Sources told the Star earlier this year that Tom was attempting to ‘derail her relationship with Jamie’.
Since the reports, Katie and Jamie have been in a casual relationship.
Tom, on the other hand, is said to have ‘never have fallen out of love’ with Katie, as she’s the one he feels best understood him.

That being said, Katie’s rep previously revealed she has had no contact with Tom and is now a Catholic, but sources say Katie would love for Tom to have a relationship with their daughter.
‘Katie would be thrilled to see Tom leave Scientology, she’d love to see him build a healthy relationship with Suri,’ a source spilled to Hollywood Life.
‘It would be a dream come true actually, but she’s not expecting it. She has zero hope that Tom will leave Scientology for Suri – he’s made it clear many times over that he’s in it for life.’
