Bachelor Episode 9: A pash, peculiar moments and a lie detector test…

Faye James recaps the latest on Nick Cummins' quest for love

In the last episode of The Bachelor the mean girls Romy, Cat and Alisha left the mansion and on Wednesday night, the remaining contestants are revelling in their absence.

Talks of good vibes fill the household until Osher arrives with some news and an important maths announcement. ‘You are the final 10!’ he states before leaving an envelope revealing the lucky girl who’s bagged a single date for the second time.

Brooke opens the envelope and announces front-runner Brittany gets her second date with Nick.

Cass looks suitably forlorn and laments how sad and disappointed she is, but Nick feels he needs to spend more time with Brittany.

‘I find her quite intriguing and she’s also a good sort!’ he says. ‘The first date we had a connection, but the second date you can find out if there’s something more.’

Nick takes Brittany on cruise through Sydney’s harbour and the pair can’t keep their hands off each other before he takes her to the Wildlife Park.

The Honey Badger pretends he knows the koalas personally before he lets Brittany fondle a snake. Lots of weird innuendos follow before the couple feed Rocky the crocodile and the couple end up in a passionate embrace. It’s all a bit strange.

But it all leads to Nick getting very impressed with Brittany’s love of adventure. They sit down for some wine and one on one time to discuss what they both want in the next five years.

‘I want kids and marriage… but I’m not ready for it yet,’ Brittany coos.

Nick somehow manages to want exactly the same. ‘We have an eerily similar plan,’ Nick notes.

‘But I need to know where I stand,’ Brittany says pushing Nick for what he really feels about her.

Nick says nothing, then leans in for some serious tonsil hockey. They kiss. Lots.

‘I like ya. You wouldn’t be here for a second date if I didn’t feel that,’ Nick says in his best romantic voice, before handing her rose and sending viewers onto Sportsbet to place even more money on the pretty brunette winning.

‘I could kiss you for hours,’ Brittany gushes.

‘You have beautiful bloody hair,’ Nick says knowing just what to tell a lass in the right moment.

Next up it’s the group date with and Jamie Lee, Tenille, Diana, Brooke, Cass and Sophie get to meet human lie detector Steve.

The girls look suitably confused and somewhat put out. ‘He’s trained with the FBI… he’s very good at what he does,’ says Osher.

‘I’ll be drilling down on when I think you’re lying,’ Steve says sternly, leaving the girls quivering in their boots.

As the girls get grilled by the FBI professional Brooke confesses she’s had issues with relationships and she gets quite teary eyed.

‘I feel really uncomfortable…’ she says.

‘There’s something I need to tell Nick,’ Brooke later tells the camera.

But who Steve ‘struggled’ with the most was Deanna who he felt was very ‘deadpan’ he also felt Tenille was ‘protecting herself from something’.

Unsurprisingly, Steve sensed that Cass was ‘absolutely infatuated with Nick’.

The girls then sit down with Nick and Steve. Nick isn’t too impressed when Steve uncovers that Tenille is ‘controlling’ and looks terrified when Cass tells Steve that he’s definitely ‘someone she can fall in love with’.

In Steve’s analysis he notes that Deanna and Tenille have walls and distance, while there was a warm connection with Sophie and Jamie-Lee.

He sees good compatibility with Brooke and with Cass, he points out the obvious that she is probably a stage five clinger.

At the cocktail party Cass is desperate to find out what Steve’s analysis is and keeps reminding Nick that they still need to go on a single date. Nick continues to dodge her questions as he talks about her dress and she falls for his diversion.

Later, Brooke feels compelled to confess a big secret and she sits down with Nick for a serious chat.

“It’s something big and something you should know…. I’ve had four relationships,” Brooke begins. “… one with a guy…but I’ve also had two relationships with women,” she confesses.

Nick appears completely deadpan and not all surprised. And possibly thinking about her making out with other women.

“I’m not bisexual or lesbian…” Brooke continues.

“I’m so you feel comfortable enough to share that with me.” Nick says before drilling her on who she’s more attracted to. Is it men or women? Nick needs to know.

“I feel more sexually attracted to men,” says Brooke leaving Nick suitably relieved with her answer.

“Good on her. I’m not one to judge.” Nick later tells the camera. All is well between Nick and Brooke.

And at the rose ceremony Brooke is the first to receive a rose. Followed by Cass, Shannon, Dasha, Sophie, Emily, Jamie Lee and finally Tenille, sending yoga-loving intruder Deanna home.

Goodbye Deanna. Can’t say I remember who you are Dana, Daria, Daaa-laaaa.
