'Going back into real life was very different'

Tennis star Jelena Dokic has recently revealed her weight gain struggle over the years.

Speaking candidly about her struggle, the former world champion number four, confessed she turned to food in a bid to cope with her retirement in 2014.

The 35 year old said at one stage she weighed 120kg and is now hoping to slim down to her playing game of 66kg.

‘I was thrown into retirement not knowing what direction I wanted to go in,’ she told SMH.

‘I wasn’t prepared – that’s where my weight gain started.

‘When you’re a professional athlete, you’re in this bubble that’s not reality –  everything is done for you … training, food, travel, management, so going back into real life was very different.’

Jelena, who currently weighs 99kg also said that she’s hoping to lose a further 33kg in six months as she’s named ambassador for weight loss company Jenny Craig.

She is currently documenting her progress on Instagram and sharing her updates with her fans.

‘Today is my tomorrow. It’s up to me to shape it, to take control and seize every opportunity,’ she wrote.

‘The power is in the choices I make each day. I eat well, I train, I live well. I shape me. It comes down to one simple thing: How bad do you want it?

‘Because I want it really bad and I will get it.’
