A bitter behind-the-scenes battle has been brewing, leaving Seal furious.
The 55-year-old has been left reeling after he was not nominated for a Logie and was removed from The Voice – replaced by Joe Jonas the brother of Delta’s ex, Nick.
A Channel Nine insider tells New Idea: ‘Seal is furious the network put forward the other three for Logie nominations.’
The Kiss From A Rose singer has since been calling on his rumoured love interest Delta Goodrem for support.
‘Ever since their romantic fling during The Voice, Seal and Delta have each other on speed dial!’ the source says.
‘He did a real dummy spit to Delta as the nominations are for his year, last year. But the network want to plug this season and he has been replaced by Jonas,’ our insider adds.
‘He was furious – he was the only coach who wasn’t re-signed for this year and replaced by, of all people, Joe Jonas, the brother of Delta’s ex!
‘Then, to add insult to injury, the Logies snub and now the social media campaign – including everyone, even Sonia.’
The insider said the seething star has been venting to Delta regarding the snub and has been relying on her for comfort. In fact, the artist is appearing at Byron Bay Bluesfest this weekend and sources reveal he’s looking to rekindle his love with Delta.
A source previously told New Idea that the UK soul singer: ‘Jumped at the chance to perform at the legendary blues festival, just so he would have the chance to reconnect with his former love Delta.’
Seal reached out to the 33-year-old singer about flying into the trendy northern NSW town, so he can attempt to win her heart once again. ‘As the months have gone on since he left Australia, Seal has really missed Delta and realised that he let someone very special slip through his fingers.
‘So, he’s using this trip as his chance to hopefully see Delta again and tell her how he feels,’ says our close insider.
And it seems Seal – who once admitted ‘I love Delta’ and described her as a national treasure – could be in with a chance as the former Neighbours star and talented pianist recently revealed that she is now single.
‘I’m single,’ the star admitted on The Kyle And Jackie O Show last Tuesday, after being asked to confirm she had split from her rock ’n’ roll lover Matthew Copley who she had been dating since December.
Meanwhile, fans turned against Seal on the last season of The Voice, thanks to his feud with Boy George and ‘diva’ antics.
Seal previously admitted to New Idea that he has no regrets about showing his ruthless side on the reality show.
‘You have to be singleminded and relentless in the pursuit of what you want,’ he reasoned. ‘It’s a very Machiavellian approach, and is it fair? No. But welcome to our industry. It’s anything but fair.’
According to the father-of-four, he found himself in hot water with his management after his behaviour during the blind auditions. ‘Seal’s manager was worried he was ruining his reputation,’ an insider explains.
‘He’s normally known to be the nurturing, mature, kind guy, but this is showing him in a whole new light. ‘He wants to be the voice of authority. But sometimes he comes across as being very high and mighty.’
After four years away from the big red chair, Seal made a heralded return to The Voice, but he was not met with open arms and rumours say this is why he wasn’t asked back for the 2018 season.
‘When he doesn’t get his way, he doesn’t always get up to congratulate contestants. ‘He spends a lot of time either on his phone or looking at his notebook to avoid talking to anyone,’ says the source.
When he’s not sulking, the singer is known for his long explanations to The Voice artists, which are met with ‘lots of eye rolling when Seal starts preaching’.
