Nicole Kidman has reportedly been working towards a positive relationship with her ex-husband Tom Cruise and is trying to reconnect with her eldest children.

Relations between the 52-year-old and the adopted children she shares with the Top Gunn actor were allegedly weakened when they joined the Church of Scientology.

When the couple split in 2001, Nicole moved back to Australia and their children – Isabella and Connor Cruise – chose to stay with their father and have been immersed in the Scientology movement ever since.

According to The Sun, the Oscar-winner was rumoured to be banned from Connor’s wedding to fiancee Silvia, the leader of the Italian arm of the Church of Scientology.

Earlier this year, a Scientology insider made the startling claim that Isabella and Connor were “indoctrinated to hate” the Australian actress.

The allegations came from Sam Domingo, the daughter-in-law of the world-famous opera singer, Plácido Domingo, who spent 22 years in the Church of Scientology.

“After the divorce, they were indoctrinated into Scientology and very much isolated,” Ms Domingo told DailyMailTV.

Isabella and Connor were relocated to an isolated “boot camp” and reportedly placed under constant supervision of Scientology No 2 and enforcer Marty Rathbun, who is no longer part of the Church of Scientology.

The children were told their mother was a “Suppressive Person” and that they should keep her at a distance, Ms Domingo claimed.

The claims have been since been denied by the Church of Scientology.

Scientology whistleblower Tony Ortega told The Daily Beast: Isabella and her brother Connor grew up in the Church of Scientology. Their mother, Nicole Kidman, was allegedly targeted by the Church because of their fear that she was turning her then-husband against them.”

However, The Sun reported that the Big Little Lies actress is coming to terms with their decision, saying:

“Motherhood is about the journey. There are going to be incredible peaks and valleys, whether you are an adopting mother or a birth mother. What a child needs is love.

“They have made choices to be Scientologists. It’s our job as a parent to always offer unconditional love.”

The Golden Globe winner – who also shares daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret with husband Keith Urban – said that she has opted to love the Cruise kids unconditionally and is leaving them to make their own decisions.

“It’s not about anything else other than, ‘I’m here to love and support you,’” she said.
