Blame it on the Chinese New Year

The arch rivals from My Kitchen Rules came face to face in very unlikely setting in Sydney earlier this week.

Devout Christian brothers Josh and Austin had an awkward run in with best friends Ibby and Romel at an event to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Hosts Amanda Keller and Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones of WSFM invited the MKR foursome to speak in front of the crowd during a Guinness Book of Records attempt and the cringe-worthy interaction certainly made for good entertainment.

The uncomfortable rendezvous comes as Ibby and Romel slammed the controversial Christian’s for being “the real villains” of the show.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph on Tuesday, talent agency owner Romel said: “From what I observed, Josh and Austin are fame wh**es, they love the attention and they went out of their way to ruffle feathers.”

The culinary duos certainly come from very different backgrounds.

Josh and Austin were raised by strict missionary parents in Western Australia, while Ibby and Romel come from Persian and Lebanese families and aren’t afraid to spice things up both on and off screen.

Speaking to WHO last week, the outspoken home schooled siblings revealed they have always struggled to fit in.

“I don’t think anyone really understand us,” Josh said.

The religious reality star admitted he and his brother are often underestimated because of their introverted nature.

“Just because I don’t appear sociable doesn’t mean I don’t know how to work people.”
