While everyone’s favourite Married At First Sight couple planned to get married exactly one year after their MAFS wedding, they’ve decided to postpone their plans.

Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant‘s would’ve tied the knot for real by now, but Jules told Ben Fordham on the Today show this week that she wanted to slow things down – which is surprising for someone who once married Cam at first sight.

We had this great idea to get married on the one-year anniversary, and it was just a lovely, romantic gesture,” she said. “But so much has been happening and going on, and I wanted to enjoy the process of organising the wedding, so that’s the only reason why it’s been postponed.”

The former MAFS star said there was no other reason for their change of plans.

“It’s purely just because of that!” she confirmed. “Just wanted to organise the wedding and do it with enjoyment and not being stressed out by the whole process.”

Following her appearance on the Today show, Jules elaborated on their decision in an Instagram post.

“For the record we did cancel our wedding this month. For one reason only.. It was too much too soon and I wanted to be a bride that enjoys the process of planning a wedding, and not be one that moans about it!” she wrote in the caption of a photo of her and Ben Fordham.

Jules told Yahoo! Lifestyle that they, unfortunately, lost a $5,000 deposit on their wedding venue as a result of their decision.

Furthermore, the Weight Watchers ambassador told the publication that she was also motivated to push back the date after partnering with the weight loss brand.

“I’d like to hit my goal and then a little bit more,” she said.

“I’ve put on 10 kilograms since I got married to Cam, and I’ve only just started saying it out loud and it’s getting much more comfortable.”
