For some time now, rumours have been circulating of a feud between The Project‘s Lisa Wilkinson and her fellow former Today show host Karl Stefanovic.

In a recent interview, Lisa finally shed some light on the nature of their relationship following his axing from Channel 9’s Today show.

The 59-year-old said she spoke to her former co-host at the Logies in June, and claims she felt “sorry” for him.

Onlookers at the Logie Awards red carpet said Lisa ignored Karl the entire time.

“The pair didn’t spend any time chatting to each other on the red carpet,” revealed a source of their embarrassingly public encounter.

“At times, it actually looked like Lisa was trying to avoid Karl.”

However, the Aussie TV personality recently dispelled the rumours in an interview with Spectrum.

“I did see Karl at the Logies,” Wilkinson told the publication.

“I went up and said hi towards the end of the evening because I was feeling a bit sorry for him.”

Lisa claimed that Karl was the butt of every joke throughout the Logies and took it upon herself to check in with him.

“I just wanted to make sure he was OK. He became everybody’s favourite punchline that night and that can’t be easy,” the brunette said.

Karl and Lisa were an Australian TV favourite as far as on-air pairings go.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, their departure from the Today show was responsible for a significant slump in ratings.

While on the Channel 9 breakfast show together in 2016, they achieved the most metropolitan ratings weeks.

Lisa opened up what made their partnership work in her interview with Spectrum.

“Even though Karl and I had an incredibly successful partnership, not even we can specify what it was that worked,” Wilkinson says.

“You never know how two people will go until they’re on air and under the spotlight for three-and-a-half hours every day.”
