ABC reporter Leigh Sales has today announced that her father ‘died suddenly.’
Taking to social media to share the news, the journalist wrote: ‘A week ago today, my father died suddenly.
‘I’ve never met anyone remotely like him and I’m certain I never will again.
‘He was the hardest working man I ever saw, a magical grandfather and a teller (and source) of hilarious stories. RIP Dad, you were awesome.’
Along with the heartfelt caption, Sales included a letter commending her father as a ‘great soldier.’
The 1RAR Association posted the Regimental Ode to Facebook in Mr. Sale’s honour.
‘Rest ye, oh warrior, you’ll battle no more, no longer to live, the horrors of war.
‘Your duty was done, with honour and pride, farewell! Oh brother, until we march by your side’.
