It’s Australia’s strangest celebrity friendship.

Radio presenter Kyle Sandilands and the infamous John Ibrahim have been friends for several years now, often photographed together on their various man-dates around Sydney.

This morning on KISS FM, the 48-year-old shed some light on what it was like being friends with the notorious underworld figure, mentioning an odd request that he recently received from John.

“John Ibrahim actually called me last night,” Kyle told his co-host, Jackie O.

Though the radio personality missed the phone call, he received a text message from the former night-club owner shortly after, with a special request.

According to Kyle, John Ibrahim sent him the following message:

“Bro, I heard you can hook me up. You got the contacts for Coles collectibles?”

The radio host claims John also sent him a picture of his daughter pointing at her two Coles collectibles and pouting.

Kyle said he was more than happy to help his friend out, responding, “I’ve got your back, I’ve got you covered.”

He admitted that the situation was odd.

“As if John Ibrahim would be talking to Kyle Sandilands about Coles mini shops!”

Given Ibrahim’s reputation, Kyle was concerned that authorities would mistake the message exchange for something more sinister.

“Just let the federal police know, if you’re intercepting our phones still, this is not a code for anything,” he said.

The 48-year-old clarified that the collectibles didn’t contain anything suspicious.

“I do not want you going down raiding John’s house, sawing up the little collectibles. There’s nothing in them!” Kyle added.

Ibrahim shared details about his friendship with the radio host in his 2017 book, Last King of the Cross, noting they grew up under similar circumstances.

“A lot of people don’t know that Kyle grew up rough, where good role models weren’t common. We didn’t have a lot of success stories living around us.”
