Kensington Palace have issued a rare comment about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby.

Reports claim that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to raise their baby in a “gender fluid” manner.

The initial claim was made by royal author Katie Nicholl, who revealed Harry and Meghan plan to not impose gender stereotypes on their bub.

Nicholl wrote in Vanity Fair that a royal source revealed all.

“Her exact word was fluid. She said they plan to raise their child with a fluid approach to gender and they won’t be imposing any stereotypes.”

Nicholl added: “Exactly what the Duchess might have meant when using the word ‘fluid’ is unclear, and there are multiple possible interpretations.”

Kensington Palace have since rubbished reports, with a press spokesperson saying: “This story is totally false”.

On New Idea’s Royals podcast, royal correspondent Angela Mollard shared her thoughts on the Palace’s denial.

“Interestingly, the Palace made a rare decision to come out and say this was ‘totally false’.

“[It is] interesting that they chose to do this.”

Her Host Rebecca Hyde agreed: “They rarely comment.”

Mollard added: “They don’t want controversy around the baby, they want this to be a protected thing.”

“[It is] very interesting that the Palace would come out and comment – the times they’ve commented on Meghan recently have been when Harry came out when they were first together and said  ‘leave her alone’.”

Prince Harry issued a statement during the very early days of his relationship with Meghan that said:”Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle’s safety.”

Mollard continued: “Then secondly when Thomas Markle Snr announced that he wouldn’t be coming to the wedding and they put out the comment that ‘Meghan has always cared for her father’.

“So, they don’t really – only things where it’s really important to Meghan.”
