Karl Stefanovic’s teenage daughter Ava has been spending some quality time with her future stepmother, Jasmine Yarbrough.
Ava, 13, enjoyed a picnic with Jasmine and her sister Jade at Whale Beach last Monday, The Daily Telegraph reports.
The quality time comes after Karl’s ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn claimed that his family have “practically no contact” with the former couple’s three children following their split.
During an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly in August, Cassandra claimed that Karl’s family had “discarded and disposed of” their children in the wake of their separation in 2016.
“Last year, I declared that Karl really was dead to me, a man I no longer know, but the children still have their father,” she told the magazine.
“The flip-side of that is I feel like we’re dead to his family and almost anyone from our old life. There has been practically no contact. I feel like we’ve been discarded and disposed of, replaced by a whole new line-up of starters.
“It has been a real adjustment period for me.”
Speaking to TheFix, the Stefanovic quickly responded to Cassandra’s claims.
“We are disappointed Cass would claim such inflammatory suggestions that we have alienated Karl’s children from our family,” the statement read.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. Karl regularly co parents his children and has his loving family around them.
“Family is often compromised when parents go through a painful divorce and we do our best to continue our love and support for the children.”
