It looks like hit 90s show Roseanne could be heading for a revival.

A claim by Deadline suggests that various networks are vying to bring back the popular sitcom, with eight new episodes starring four of the original cast – Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf.

The comedy, which ran from 1988 – 1997 centred around the hilarious trials and tribulations of a working class American family – centring on the Conners, who lived, barely scraping by, in the fictional town of Lanford, IL.

It is hoped that the majority of the original cast will eventually sign on – including The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki.

There is currently a huge trend for 90s TV show revivals – with Will & Grace, Arrested DevelopmentGilmore Girls The X-Files, Prison Break and 24 all being revamped.

Just recently Goodman and Gilbert also recently staged a mini-Roseanne revival in a video filmed during Goodman’s visit to CBS’ The Talk, which Gilbert created, co-hosts and executive produces.

John Goodman also raised hopes of a revival saying: ‘Oh, hell yes … if we could get everyone together.’

‘The Big R [Barr] and I did a pilot about five years ago that didn’t go anywhere … but we were very happy to work together.”

Roseanne also previously gave her take on where she thinks the main characters would be today in a 2009 post on her website: Roseanne and Jackie would have opened the first medical marijuana dispensary in Lanford; Dan would reappear alive after faking his death; DJ would be published; Mark dying in Iraq; David leaving Darlene for a woman half his age; Darlene would have come out as a lesbian and have a baby with her new partner; Becky would be working at Walmart; Arnie would befriend the governor of Illinois and remarrying Nancy; Bev would sell a painting for $10,000; Jerry and the grandsons form a boy band; and Bonnie would have been arrested for selling crack.
