Gogglebox star Matty Fahd will spend the night in jail for charity

Such an amazing cause.

Gogglebox star Matty Fahd will spend the night in jail for charity, Yahoo Be reports.

On Friday, May 4, the 31-year-old media manager will be turning over his phone, putting on a pair of prison overalls and saying goodbye to his freedom – all to raise money for the organisation, Whitelion.

The charity works with young people in the youth justice system to open doors to opportunities, positive relationships and community connections through role model, mentoring, employment and outreach programs and through preventative programs in the broader community.

The Gogglebox star will experience the Yasmar Detention Centre in Ashfield in Sydney, a former Juvenile detention centre.

As a previous working prison, it still has the look and feel of the real deal – down to the beds, zero contact with the outside world and the bare minimum for food.

The ‘inmates’ will stay locked up from 5pm on Friday until 9am the following day, but participants will only be let free if they raise $1,000 for bail money.

‘This idea is just incredible,’ Matty told Yahoo. ‘It’s giving people a way to be able to do something that’s really putting them in the shoes of the cause that they’re supporting and it creates a different perspective on these issues, and teens themselves.’

While not spending time in prison, Matty appears alongside wife Sarah and friend Jad on the Gogglebox couch.
