Australian pop princess and former The Voice coach Delta Goodrem has taken to Instagram to share a poignant message to those battling cancer, exactly 20 years after fighting the disease herself.

17 years after her diagnosis, the singer launched the Delta Goodrem Foundation in partnership with St Vincent’s Hospital, where she received treatment herself.
Three years later, she’s shared her reflections on this tumultuous period of her life.
“July 8, 2003. twenty years ago today. I remember that day so clearly and all the mixed emotions that came with the news of being diagnosed with cancer while my album had been sitting at #1 for three months prior and the third single hit #1 same day,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Today marks a beautiful full circle moment in my life when it feels like a brand new chapter starts here. I’m typing this whilst in London and working on the @deltagoodremfoundation’s first ever Gala event. I was working on new music and shows all of yesterday. We’re throwing a new music party today. I’ve had the most incredible and one of the most meaningful trips being back here 20 years to the date,” she continued.
Twenty years on from her 2003 diagnosis, Delta says she hopes those who are battling the disease can hold onto hope.
“I honor my journey that leads me here but it’s also about what we do next that counts. For those in the fight you are never alone and I stand here with you as a survivor.
Delta has given back to Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital by running her own charity, which will fund medical research into blood cancers and auto-immune diseases.
Speaking about the inital launch of the Foundation with St Vincent’s, Delta told The Daily Telegraph it was a “full circle moment coming back to the place that I really started this journey”.
“It means something great to be able to give back and really – in a concrete way – make a difference for positive change.”
“It’s extraordinarily special and I really hope that it will be one of my greatest legacies.”
