Britney Spears has dramatically broken her silence over the controversy surrounding her health and treatment, asking fans to calm down as increasingly wild conspiracy theories swirl around the Internet.

Amid unsubstantiated claims she was being ‘forced against her will’ undergo treatment, Britney posted a video on Instagram, and an extended caption outlining her status.

‘I wanted to say hi, because things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! Wow!!!’ she wrote.

‘There’s rumors, death threats to my family and my team, and just so many things crazy things being said. I am trying to take a moment for myself, but everything that’s happening is just making it harder for me. Don’t believe everything you read and hear.’

The star went on to blame misinformation spread via bogus emals.

‘These fake emails everywhere were crafted by Sam Lutfi years ago… I did not write them. He was pretending to be me and communicating with my team with a fake email address.

‘My situation is unique, but I promise I’m doing what’s best at this moment 🌸🌸🌸 You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and stand up for what I want!

‘Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way. If you could do that, I would be forever grateful. Love you ❤️❤️❤️’

As if hoping to head off the inevitable theories that the post was not written by the star herself, she also included a video in which she hit some of the same points as her caption.

Britney entered a mental health facility late last month, but has since been photographed leaving the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills with her boyfriend Sam Asghari.

Earlier this month reports emerged that Spears had suffered a emotional breakdown in the wake of her father Jamie’s reportedly serious illness.

TMZ reported she would remain in the care facility to complete a 30-day treatment programme.

The star has been under her father’s conservatorship since 2008, following reported mental health issues.
