They were once the ultimate Hollywood couple who appeared to have it all, and now the next chapter of Brad and Jen is set to begin, with the duo preparing to take their relationship public.
Having stayed in touch on- and-off over the years since their shock split in 2005, the couple have taken their friendship to a new level following the actor’s break-up with Angelina Jolie in 2016 – and Brad’s camp are officially confirming reports of a reconciliation with Jen.
‘[Brad and Jen] have connected and are in fact in touch,’ a source close to Brad told Gossip Cop, describing the initial reaching out as ‘friendly communications’.
Now, with reports claiming Brad’s divorce to Angelina is on the verge of being finalised, insiders tell New Idea it is all systems go for Brad, 54, and Jen, 49, to move forward – with insiders tipping the former couple will choose the Oscars for their big reveal.
‘Being seen together at the Oscars will make a big, big statement,’ says a source. ‘Jen saw how all eyes were on her and Ange at the Golden Globes, so she feels the industry night of nights will be the perfect setting to show everyone that she and Brad are moving on from the past and are officially back in each other’s lives.’
Tired of keeping their friendship a secret, Jen is also planning to dish all the details to her pal Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show, including her plans to once again become involved with Plan B – the production company they founded as a couple shortly before they split.
‘Jen just wants everything out in the open so they can move on,’ says a source. ‘She’s excited about not only having Brad back in her life again, but also about the possibility of working on a project together, too. She’s got nothing to hide and wants to share her happiness.’
Unable to escape the tag of being the golden couple, Brad and Jennifer have been bemused over the years at how desperately their fans have wanted them to one day reunite, and now all these years later they are giving them what they want!
And while Jen has always taken the high road when it comes to the whole sordid love triangle between herself, Brad and Ange, saying: ‘I’ve made a conscious effort not to add to the toxicity of this situation,’ pals say there will also be a hint of satisfaction in getting the last laugh over Ange, 42.
‘Of course she feels vindicated and a little smug. She’s only human!’ says a source. ‘But most of all she is just plain happy and excited to have reconnected with Brad.’
As for Brad, pals say he is relieved to finally get the chance to not only seek forgiveness, but to also mend his relationship with Jen, who has always held a special place in his heart. ‘Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend,’ says Brad. ‘It is an important relationship I value greatly.’
Having staunchly defended Brad in the wake of their split and dealt with all the blows, it appears Jen’s luck has come.
‘I love Brad. I really love him. I will love him for the rest of my life. He’s a fantastic man,’ said Jen shortly following their shock split. ‘I really do hope that someday we can be friends again.’
