Wearing a white, floaty gown and beaming from ear to ear, bride-to-be Angelina Jolie looked like the cat that had got the cream as she glided down the aisle.
Just weeks after firing her divorce attorney and engaging in a very public war of words with her ex Brad Pitt, the to celebrate…she’s getting married to her secret British billionaire lover.
New Idea has learned that Ange and the mystery Englishman are in the midst of planning a lavish wedding, but decided to hold a secret ceremony over the weekend in a romantic bid to show their commitment to each other.
“Ange’s new man has been desperate to prove his love and devotion to her and so suggested they have a ‘wedding ceremony’ last weekend,” an exclusive source told New Idea.
“She was very cagey Hollywood actress has cause on the details but said it was a beautiful day, where they affirmed their love for one another in front of a celebrant and declared their commitment to each other.
“All the kids were there – and while it was a little hard for them to understand with the split from Brad still being so raw, Maddox and Pax especially were excited to see their mum so happy again. It took place at her new man’s LA mansion, in a garden surrounded by white flowers – Ange’s favourite.”
Last month it was reported that Ange was so desperate to be free from Brad – who she separated from in September 2016 – that she filed a court brief asking a judge to grant her a bifurcated divorce, meaning that the divorce would be finalised before the warring couple had resolved their custody and financial issues.
“A quicker divorce means Angelina would be free to marry again,” a friend spilled to In Touch.
And the timing couldn’t be more perfect for smitten Ange – who has been married three times previously. With her costly custody battle said to be running into the millions, not to mention the fact that she had to borrow $US8 million from Brad to buy her new home in LA last year, Ange “is desperate to get married as soon as she can”, the In Touch source continues.
“She thinks she’s found a real winner in husband Number 4.
“She’s impressed by his dedication to helping others and, quite frankly, by his huge bank account, which she knows will come in handy now that she no longer has Brad’s estimated $US240 million fortune … she really feels she’s hit the jackpot with her Englishman.”
Those close to the Maleficent star say she wants to marry her billionaire beau as soon as the ink is dry on her divorce from Brad – and she’s even considering making her rented London mansion the wedding venue.
“Obviously Ange can’t remarry yet until the divorce is finalised, so last weekend’s nuptials was a commitment ceremony as much as anything,” says an insider.
“But Ange still wore white and carried a bouquet down the cobbled garden aisle – in her eyes, it definitely felt like they were saying ‘I do’ for real.”
What’s more, those close to the star say Ange hasn’t been this happy for many years and “marrying” her new man has made her feel secure knowing that she has someone in her life once again, especially with her custody battle heating up.
Ange is well known for being a serial monogamist – having gone through two back-to-back marriages to English actor Jonny Lee Miller and Hollywood rebel Billy Bob Thornton before she married Brad.
And the star – who shares children Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 10, with Brad – not only feels more secure when in a relationship, but she’s certain that having a man by her side will help her win custody of the kids.
“She knows having a wealthy man with deep pockets is only a good thing in her legal battles.
Having a stable father figure in the children’s lives is going to help her get custody, and he is only too willing to help with Ange’s hefty legal bills. This is a win-win for Ange.”
