Princess Charlotte cannot wait to start school in September, according to her mum Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge opened up about her four-year-old daughter during a visit to the British countryside with her husband, Prince William last week.

Speaking with well-wishers and members of the public who had turned out to great the royals, it was clear that their kids were front of mind even though the couple were child free for their trip. 

“[Kate] said Charlotte was looking forward to school,” says Helen Jones, 35, from Carlisle, who brought her four-year-old daughter Eva along to meet the royals in Keswick, reports PEOPLE.

“She was very friendly,” added Helen.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Cumbria, which his part of the Lake District National Park, to recognise the essential role that farming and agriculture has in Britain.

During the visit, Duchess Kate even turned her hand to sheep shearing, proving she wasn’t too posh to get her hands dirty.

Princess Charlotte will join her big brother, Prince George, 5, at Thomas’s Battersea in Wandsworth, south London this northern hemisphere autumn.

“We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s Battersea,” Simon O’Malley, Headmaster at Thomas’s Battersea, said in a statement last month.

“We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.”
