House Rules’ home base was rocked tonight as the first team was eliminated.
While it was a tight race to the finish line, the decision came down to Toad and Mandy – and their scores on Leigh and Kristie and Kim and Michelle’s zones.
For their overall scores, the engaged dairy farmers gave Leigh and Kristie a 7 and Kim and Michelle an 8.
Ultimately, with only one point separating the two, it came down to the bonus room.

The final results came down to whether Toad and Mandy would pass or fail the sitting room assigned to mother-daughter duo Kim and Michelle by fiery competitors Mel and Dave.
While giving their critiques, Toad and Mandy were left unimpressed with Kim and Michelle’s overall design in the bonus room.
Both Toad and Mandy were fans of the coach and shelving that Kim and Michelle decided to use in the room. However, the couple thought the fireplace statement piece was ‘too big,’ the chandelier was ‘too fancy’ and the lino the duo had uncovered under the carpet and made into artwork was not the right fit for that room.
Before the huge decision was made, Leigh tells the camera: ‘If we get through this elimination – it’s game on.’
‘If we get through, look out,’ he adds.
It’s then time for Toad to tell the contestants the final decision.
He says, ‘This week the bonus room is a pass.’
‘Oh, thank god’ Michelle can be heard saying.
Mandy justify’s, ‘You didn’t just put couches in a sitting room – you restored the fireplace, put some shelving up.’
‘The ceiling did shine,’ Toad adds. ‘So, thank you very much, we appreciate it.’

Mel and Dave tell the camera, ‘They skimmed through. Lucky girls.’
As the lowest scoring team – Leigh and Kristie then said goodbye to the competition.
As parting words, Leigh said: ‘The girls obviously deserved to pass the bonus room. So, that’s alright.
‘It’s been a great journey, we’ve learnt a lot on the way – in designing and our relationship too.’
‘We’ve met amazing people too,’ Kristie adds.
