Reportedly tearing a page from a comment book used to pass on her satisfaction – or disapproval – of a dish to kitchen staff, the Queen and placed the dead slug on it.  Alongside the sloppy finding, the Queen wrote “I found this in the salad – could you eat it?”, the Daily Mail reported.

According to several palace sources, Her Majesty selects her meals from a red leather bound book that is prepared by her royal chef.

She will then mark her choices, adding in suggestions and crossing out anything she doesn’t want.

Darren McGrady, a former royal chef who worked for the palaces for 15 years, explained the monarch only eats organic foods, noting she will reject any dish that offers out-of-season ingredients.

He said: “Try including strawberries on the menu in January and she’ll scrub out the line and say don’t dare send me genetically modified strawberries.

“She absolutely does eat seasonal.”
