Although fans have long speculated that Bachelor and Bachelorette couples must adhere to a strict “3 month” contract following the show’s finale, Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins has seemingly confirmed the franchise’s worst-kept secret.
This years Bachelor, who sensationally dumped both Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman in an emotional finale spoke to ABC’s Radio National on Dec. 4. and cited “contractual obligations” as the reason behind his shock decision.
Speaking on-air, the former rugby star said: “I was actually disappointed that people are so brainwashed, you’re not going to get your fairytale ending every time.
And what’s more important, me just saying ‘yes’ and going through the motions and dragging some girl through all this media about how we’re in love and then three months down the track after the contract’s over, um, we’re allowed to break up.
“I’m not going to drag them through that rubbish…and break her heart. Bugger that,” he stated.
Channel Ten is yet to comment on Nick’s comments.
Nick’s confession comes after Sophie Monk continually denied rumours she was “contractually obliged” to pretend she was still dating winner Stu Laundy following the show’s finale.
Monk and Laundy announced their split almost three months to the day after the finale was shown on TV.
This year’s Bachelorette couple, Ali Oetjen and Taite Radley, are currently facing the same barrage of questions following the airing of their finale.
