Channel Seven’s newest dating show, Bride And Prejudice, has been branded as one of Australian television’s most controversial.
Six couples are set to wed by the end of the series, but they all have on obstacle to overcome – disapproving families.
In a bid to fix their fractured families, the couples will stay together at a retreat and take part in intense therapy guided by family therapist and relationship expert Leanne Hall.
Now – the bride’s are telling all.
Lily’s baby news
They’ve been together for three years and have just announced their engagement, so could starting a family be the next step for Hank and Lily?
In fact, the 23-year-old Queensland nurse says babies are a big topic of discussion in her family at the moment.
“My sister just had a baby so my mum is pushing for it,” Lily says, laughing. “She’s in baby dreamland so wants me to have one so there’s two!”
While Lily admits she and Hank would like “one or two” children one day, she’s not quite ready to start a family. “I feel like there’s so much more to do and we always said we want to be set up with careers and life before we go down that path,” she says.
Phillipa’s acting past exposed
Last week, speculation was rife that Philippa and her partner Ry were “planted” on the show for drama after it was revealed they are both amateur actors. However, the 39-year-old – who is 19 years older than her fiance – has come out swinging, claiming their relationship is “real”.
“I think it’s pretty clear that we’re on the show because we have a serious divide in our family at the moment,” she says.
“The more people watch they will realise that it’s not made up, there is real grief and you feel it.”
Melissa’s new cheating scandal
From the very first time we met Melissa and Aalden on screen, they made no secret about the fact infidelity has been a problem in their relationship.
Aalden openly admits he slept with another woman while he and Melissa were going through a rough patch.
However, what viewers don’t know is that this is not the first time the mum-of-two has been cheated on.
“My daughter’s dad had cheated on me when I was pregnant with her,” she reveals. “It made me more distrusting and guarded. During the first few years of our relationship I was highly insecure.”
Izzy: “I’m not skinny enough”
She may have been a finalist on Australia’s Next Top Model, but it will shock viewers to learn that according to Izzy, she’s too overweight to work as a model here Down Under.
“In a lot of ways I’m just not skinny enough,” she tells New Idea.
“They want girls smaller than me. Australia’s a really weird market; it’s very commercial.”
The 28-year-old works mostly as a model overseas after finding the Australian modelling scene too overwhelming.
“After Top Model I moved to Sydney and was modelling full-time but it was just so much work to get the jobs and it’s so expensive,” she explains. “It was really, really, really stressful. I work more in modelling when I’m overseas and then when I’m here I work in film behind the scenes doing props and set decoration.”
Jess hits back at Fatima
A devastated Jess has spoken out about allegations made by her future mother-in-law Fatima that she is a “s–t” and a “party girl”.
Furious over the comments made about her, the 21-year-old tells New Idea that you’re more likely to find her playing games on a Saturday night than partying in a club.
“I’d like everyone to know that I was a party girl but I’m not a party girl anymore,” she states.
“Anyone who actually knows me knows that most of the time I sit at home with my parents and play Wordscapes and watch movies. From 18 to 20, I spent the majority of my time going out because I just didn’t really have much else to do and I’d just gone through a break up and I was living my best life.”
Ange & Dylan’s shock love triangle
A mystery woman who has appeared on Ange’s Instagram profile has had viewers speculating if she and Dylan have split.
The 23-year-old posted a photo of her receiving a kiss from a woman named Kara.
However, fans of the same-sex couple need not fret, Kara is Ange’s long-time best friend!
“Kara is like my sister,” Ange explains. “It would just never happen. I don’t think about her in that way.”
Dylan, 31, admits she is grateful that there is no chemistry between Ange and Kara.
“I don’t get jealous,” she says. “But if they were sexually attracted to each other, I would be screwed.”
Ange interjects: “We would not be together if we were sexually attracted to each other. Kara and I would be together!”
