Ultra-conservative Margaret would like her son Hank to marry a traditional girl who doesn’t speak up. But, his fiancee Lily is the complete opposite.
“Lily is a controlling, feminist vegetarian,”says Margaret.
“Lily is a taker and not a giver. She’s stubborn and opinionated. It’s got to be her way or no way.”
And as for Fatima, not only does she think that her son Seyat is too young to marry, she definitely isn’t a fan of his partner, Jess.

But Seyat is hurt by her constant remarks about his fiancee.
“She can be too much,” he admits to New Idea.
Despite Fatima’s unwelcome attitudes, Seyat does understand where his mother’s behaviour comes from.
“I think she’s like that because of the way she grew up,” he says of his mum.
“I think she has that kind of mindset.”
But are these mothers really that bad or will they come around and accept their children’s partners?
